Pan Am Kata Championships Guadalajara, Mexico September 22, 2023

The waiting was over; on September 20th, Brynn and Haley flew down to Mexico to represent the USA in the Pan American Kata Championships. Then on Friday, September 22, they competed in their first international competition. Haley and Brynn competed in the under 23 (U23) categories for both Ju no Kata (Forms of Gentleness) and Nage no Kata (Forms of Throwing). Coach Rob went with them for support.

They did very well and were able to win bronze in the Nage no Kata and gold in the Ju no Kata, bringing home the first medals for team USA this weekend. Not only were these their first international competition medals, but the first of the kind for all of the South Coast of Oregon and obviously the first for Shipyard.

Congratulations to them both! They have a long, bright future ahead of them.
