Over the weekend Shipyard Judo set four members up to Lakewood, Washington to compete in the Rainier Cup Championships. We set Channc, Maria, Coach Sabrina, and in her first tournament, Elizabeth. Coach Clayton went along for support and Alice came to watch parts of her first tournament.
Channc fought valiantly in his two matches and even had a seven minute match! Maria also fought valiantly in her two matches against another great competitor from up north and ended up with a silver medal in the veteran’s division. Elizabeth learned a lot from her matches and has started showing more aggressive judo tactics in class. Coach Sabrina fought in two divisions and ended up with a bronze in the larger division and was well-matched in her smaller division to win the silver medal. She competed in the Rainier Open Cup and her first match ran into the same competitor that Maria ran into. She gave a great fight but ultimately came up short.
Good job to all our competitors!
