Shipyard hosted it’s first event today. We had clinicians from Washington state come down to instruct Nage no Kata (Forms of Throwing). This kata (form) is required for students wishing the earn their black belts, but students can also compete by performing the kata for a panel of judges. On the second day there was a test for three participants to become judges for this kata, and all three passed. Congratulations to the Northwest’s newest kata judges!
Our very own instructors Haley and Brynn "volunteered” to demonstrate parts of the kata for instruction.
We had clinic participants from North Bend, Mapleton, Grants Pass, and Eugene in Oregon, Seattle and Kennewick in Washington, and Anchorage, Alaska.
